Description

In the province of Saskatchewan, Canada, where I live, there is a town called Batoche. It was the scene of a major rebellion between the government and the Metis people in 1885 led by Louis Riel and Gabriel Dumont.

There is a little graveyard there which was used back then but is still in use today. On my visit I came upon a row of little graves, belonging to children. On March 5, 1959, a fire swept through the Hrycuik home killing all 6 precious babies and their baby sitter. Where were mom and dad? Look closely at the information on the children, let your imagination go, and feel your heart break.

Hubert (April 23 1952 - March 5 1959)

Michael (June 10 1953 - March 5 1959)

Richard (July 24 1954 - March 5 1959)

Marlene (Oct 21 1955 - March 5 1959)

Kathleen (March 5 1957 - March 5 1959)

Steve (Oct 16 1958 - March 5 1959)

Forever cherished, never forgotten.
