Description

Oh, the stories they told!

Mala'Reigh and Cailadin walked for hours, and she forgot that she wore bed clothes and no shoes.

The dragon explained to her that she had unknowingly summoned him many years ago with an enchanted orb she had borrowed from her father, and how he had watched her grow up with respect for his kind and felt it was time that they met.

He shared the story of the tome that she loved best of all, that had taught her their ways and their language. He was pleased that she spoke to him in his own tongue and never once asked him to revert to anything else to make it easier for her.

Cailadin saw in the young half-elf a noble but yet untried heart and wondered how she would fare against what was to come.

Mala'Reigh shared with the great beast the story of her love for all things draconic, about her father the great court wizard, and her mother the impeccable diplomat; how her parents had met, how they fell in love, and how her mother had planned her daughter's conception down to the last detail.

"Douta dask jahus duskin, shar mrith bensvelk preah," said Cailadin in his deep resonating voice. Your mother was devious, but with a good heart.

"Axun. Dask tuora opsola ekess waph shafaer malrak, erekess ve." Yes. Mother desired father to live on forever, through me.

"Jaci tira ti loreat. Ruliyna vehafor nirescho waph." He did not die. Humans create difficult life.

Mala'Reigh laughed in agreement and sang the chorus of a song, twirling gracefully in the grass alongside the drake. Cailadin stopped, arched his neck and tilted his head as he observed.

"Svabol re wux tirir?" he asked. What are you doing?

The half elf changed the steps, still singing. "Si mi vaerior. Canotak darastri vaeri?" I am dancing. Don't dragons dance?

Cailadin shook himself like a dog, then sat down. He proceeded to raise his muzzle to the sky and let out the strangest series of sounds Mala'Reigh had ever heard. She sat down in the grass and watched him, enthralled.

When the beast finished he exhaled long and hard.

"Si majak miirik. Wux vaeri, silpefrenic." I give song. You dance, half elf.

So Mala'Reigh stood up and did so. With a smile she danced to the eerie song of isthasy darastrix, brother dragon, with the abandon of a young heart unfettered by concerns, untried by life, that was living its fondest dream.
